The Gospel and Suffering

The Gospel and Suffering

We do not often associate the greatest things in this world with the most difficult situation: suffering. It can be difficult for us to reconcile how the Gospel message could possibly be linked to earthly suffering. Yet throughout Scripture, such a linkage is presented, whether in terms of the Old Testament prophets bringing the word of the Lord to His people or the New Testament apostles sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. Jesus did not hide the fact that those who followed Him would be persecuted, reviled, and attacked; after all, if the world hated Him, it would also hate those who followed Him. Even so, the worth of the Gospel surpasses any suffering we could endure here. We invite you to join us as we examine the relationship between “The Gospel and Suffering” in 1 Thess. 2:14-16.
