God's Surprising, Sovereign Choices

We love when God answers our prayers - provided that He does so according to our expectations! But what happens when His answers are slow (by our estimation) in arriving or, even worse, don't conform with what we expect? When Habakkuk asked God why He wasn't acting to put an end to the evil the prophet saw in the world, God's answer was stunning. Not only was God on the move, but He was driving world events in a way that was unbelievable. The Lord was raising up a pagan nation as an instrument of judgment against the nation of Judah. Why would God use such a nation, and does His sovereignty somehow absolve the wicked of their guilt?
