Galatians: The Author, His Audience, and His Aim

The uniqueness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is that it is the Gospel of grace: it proclaims the Good News of what God, in love, has done for us in the completed work of Jesus Christ, especially what He accomplished in His death on the cross and in His resurrection from the grave three days later. And it is a Gospel of grace, because it is offered freely by God to all who would receive it in faith.

Yet in our sinfulness, we keep trying to add to that completed work. We want to do something that contributes to our salvation, but that attempt puts us under the bondage of the law. God offers freedom in Jesus Christ, so why do we keep running back to our shackles?
